Abstract

This article examines the relationship between migration policy in the South Kazakhstan region of the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries and the process of Russification. The study analyzed the main directions of the colonial policy of the Russian Empire, including the mechanisms of settlement of Russian peasants, missionary activity and assimilation of the local population. Based on archival data and historical research, the stages of the resettlement policy, its socio-economic and cultural consequences were determined. In addition, the processes of displacement of the Kazakh people from the land, spiritual oppression and changes in national consciousness are scientifically analyzed.
