Abstract

This article is devoted to the problem of English phraseological units containing proper names translation into Russian. The authors ponder over the basic translation methods of phraseological units considering the criteria of choosing the way of translating these lexical combinations. The analysis of the most frequent translation methods of English phraseological units into Russian is also included in the article. It is concluded that one phraseological unit can be translated into Russian in a variety of ways. The interconnection between the degree of the onym`s cultural familiarization and the method of its translation is highlighted as well.
