THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING DIGITAL RESOURCES IN TEACHING CHEMISTRY AT SCHOOL

Abstract

This article examines the effectiveness of using digital educational resources in the process of teaching chemistry. The study was conducted in the 8th grade using the topic “Structure of the Periodic System of Chemical Elements” as an example. Within the framework of the research, lessons in one class were conducted with the use of digital resources, while in another class teaching was carried out using a traditional instructional format.Students were offered theoretical and practical tasks of varying levels of complexity. The quality of students’ knowledge was assessed using percentage indicators, while their interest in the subject was determined through questionnaires; the results were then analyzed comparatively. During the study, individual, pair, and group forms of work were applied.The article presents methods and techniques that can be implemented in chemistry lessons using digital resources, with specific examples of their application. A comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of digital and traditional teaching approaches is also provided.It is concluded that the effective use of digital resources in chemistry lessons contributes to improving the quality of students’ knowledge. The survey results showed that the majority of students consider digital resources to facilitate the understanding of educational material and increase learning effectiveness, as well as enhance interest in the subject and student engagement in the learning process.During the lessons, a website created using the Canva application, a 3D model of the Mendeleev periodic table, and various animations were used. The research results confirmed that the use of digital resources increases students’ interest in chemistry and promotes greater learning activity.
