This article examines the role of developing students' lexical norm skills in the text editing process in the course "Fundamentals of Editing." Examples of assignments developed for reviewing the topic "Lexical Norms" are provided. Students are required to identify errors that violate lexical compatibility norms, the use of phraseological units, instances of tautology and pleonasm, speech incompleteness, the mixing of paronyms, synonyms, antonyms, and concrete and abstract vocabulary. Students are also asked to identify and correct these errors, as well as the use of practical exercises, dictionaries, and stylistic analysis to improve the speech culture of future specialists. The article analyzes the main types of lexical errors most frequently encountered in academic texts and substantiates the effectiveness of editing as a method for developing students' linguistic competence. It also suggests ways to organize lexical editing work in the educational process and examines typical lexical errors (pleonasms, tautologies, collocation violations, etc.).
